The Progress, 2023

The series “The Progress” explores the intersection of photography and painting through the lens of artificial intelligence. The aesthetics of these images revisit art history and genre scenes, intertwining baroque elements with the backdrop of a post-Covid youth, offering a fantastical vision of contemporary scenes. By blending past eras with possible futures, the series portrays the existential journey of a youth in transition.

These works merge an idealized past with neglected landscapes, evoking wandering and fragility in a world where technological progress has failed to fulfill its promises.

The peculiarities and imperfections generated by artificial intelligence underscore the temporality of these creations. While technology aspires to perfection, it instead unveils the fragility and flaws of its processes. This becomes a reflection on the pursuit of perfection, proposing a meditation on the authenticity of the image in an era where technology is redefining artistic practices.

The title echoes the role of progress in the evolution of the image, within a world shaped by ideological and environmental crises. The series draws inspiration from baroque references while reinterpreting their aesthetics. It also evokes Fragonard’s famous series The Progress of Love in the Heart of a Young Girl. Here, it is The Progress of the Image in the Body of a New Youth: a body in transformation, where the image molts, changes structure, and regenerates itself. It embodies a new generation that is both aesthetic and technological.
